Mothers Who Eat Fish While Pregnant Produce Offspring With Better Cognitive Development
 .....Does eating fish during pregnancy improve a child's intelligence? According to a recent study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition the answer is yes. The study revealed that infants of mothers who consumed more fish during pregnancy achieved higher scores in verbal intelligence and fine motor skill testing, as well as having a higher pro-social behavior. The study is part of the NUTRIMENTHE project "Effect of diet on offspring's cognitive development", which focuses on the effects of genetic variants and maternal fish intake on the children's intellectual capacity.....

ICO's Princeton Elementary School Eye Clinic

The school-based eye clinic at Princeton Elementary School opened in January 2011 and provides needed eye health and vision care to thousands of underserved Chicago Public School students.
The clinic features:

• 13 examination lanes
• Professional staff including a medical director, three ICO faculty optometrists, two case workers, three opticians, as well as 30-50 third and fourth year students performing clinical hours. 
• Year-round operation to accommodate varied school calendars
• Partnerships with organizations and individuals to support the needs of the program and expand services

Researchers Rewrite Textbook On Location Of Brain's Speech Processing Center

....Scientists have long believed that human speech is processed towards the back of the brain's cerebral cortex, behind auditory cortex where all sounds are received - a place famously known as Wernicke's area after the German neurologist who proposed this site in the late 1800s based on his study of brain injuries and strokes. .... But, now, research that analyzed more than 100 imaging studies concludes that Wernicke's area is in the wrong location. The site newly identified is about 3 centimeters closer to the front of the brain and on the other side of auditory cortex - miles away in terms of brain architecture and function....
